Lewis Hamilton is reportedly in discussions to completely purchase and own a massive debt ridden MotoGP team.
Lewis Hamilton is an avid admirer of not only Formula 1 but also other racing categories including MotoGP. The Briton has continued to expand his horizons by directing and producing a movie about the pinnacle of motorsport. Amidst the switch to Ferrari, Hamilton is also allegedly looking for a buyout of an existing MotoGP team.
Formula 1’s advertising owner Liberty Media is already on a mission to acquire MotoGP in the coming year. Lewis Hamilton also reportedly dabbled in the two-wheeler racing category after offering a buyout of an existing team.
The Austrian motorcycle manufacturer KTM is facing a massive $3.1 Million debt due to multiple undisclosed reasons.
Due to this, Hamilton has showcased a keen interest in acquiring KTM’s team in MotoGP. KTM’s director, Pit Beirer confirmed that the team had some ‘interesting’ discussions with the Briton’s management. Moreover, Beirer noted that the 39-year-old was interested in MotoGP and was thinking of having his own team.

Red Bull and KTM to ‘remain inseparable’ despite Lewis Hamilton’s interest
Lewis Hamilton has been famously known as a rival to Red Bull’s team in Formula 1 for a long time. However, KTM and Red Bull have been partners in MotoGP for some time as the team wouldn’t consider ditching the latter. This means that even if Hamilton purchases the team, it would be on the condition of not separating the two giants in MotoGP.
Anyone who wants to work with us knows about the proximity – Red Bull and KTM are inseparable. That has not been an issue in the negotiations so far.
