Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have emerged as big winners at the 2024 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, collectively scooping up four awards. Despite neither making an appearance at the ceremony, which took place on Saturday, July 13th, the couple still made a significant impact.
Taylor Swift, 34, took home the lion’s share of the awards, winning three: Favorite Female Artist, Favorite Global Music Star, and Favorite Ticket of the Year for her immensely popular Eras Tour. Meanwhile, Travis Kelce, also 34, won the award for Favorite Male Sports Star.
The couple’s big win at the awards show coincided with their busy schedules. Kelce was participating in the 2024 American Century Championship in Nevada, while Swift was performing her Eras Tour show in Milan on the same day.
Other notable Kids’ Choice Awards winners included Simone Biles for Favorite Female Sports Star, Margot Robbie and Timothée Chalamet for Favorite Movie Actors in “Barbie” and “Wonka,” and Serena Williams, who received the Legend Gold Blimp Award for her outstanding career in sports, beauty, and lifestyle.
Swift and Kelce went public with their romance in October 2023, after the singer was first spotted at one of Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs games the previous month. Since then, the couple has been seen traveling the globe together and frequently supporting each other at various events.
During her show in Milan on Saturday, July 13th, Swift had a brief mishap when she appeared to swallow a bug during the secret song segment of the concert. In a video posted on X (formerly Twitter), Swift coughed and then humorously addressed the crowd, saying, “I knew it would happen ’cause there’s so many bugs here tonight,” amid her surprise mashup of “I Almost Do” and “The Moment I Knew.” She reassured her fans, “It’ll be fine. I just need to cough a little,” before continuing with the performance. This was not the first time Swift has had such an encounter; she previously swallowed bugs during her Eras Tour shows in London and Chicago in 2023.
Meanwhile, in Nevada, Kelce was spotted showing his support for Swift by singing along to her hit “Cruel Summer” during the 2024 American Century Championship. Videos posted to X showed the Kansas City Chiefs tight end mouthing the lyrics during the celebrity tournament. He even made a crying motion with his hands as the lyrics “cried like a baby coming home from the bar” played, and bopped his head to the music.
The couple’s individual successes and their continued public displays of affection and support for each other have made them a beloved pair among fans. Their joint wins at the Kids’ Choice Awards only add to their growing list of shared accomplishments.
