Jason Kelce, the retired Philadelphia Eagles legend, has revealed an unusual secret to his success on the golf course while competing in this week’s celebrity tournament at Lake Tahoe.
Participating in the 2024 American Century Championship, Kelce joined a star-studded lineup that included actors Rob McElhenney and Miles Teller, NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley, NFL quarterback Aaron Rodgers, and many more high-profile names.
While competing against these famous faces in the picturesque Sierra Nevada mountains, Kelce shared that drinking a few beers during rounds actually improves his game, as long as he doesn’t overdo it.
The former NFL star was spotted sipping a drink on the course while posing next to a sign celebrating his brother Travis’s reign as the 2023 Corbell Long Drive Champion, after the Kansas City Chiefs tight end hit an impressive 363-yard drive last year.
Despite his younger brother’s success in the Corbell competition, Jason insists he is not trying to outdo him at Lake Tahoe this week. The retired Eagles center is focused on enjoying the game and the camaraderie among the participants.
The tournament featured a number of current and former athletes who participated in Thursday’s American Century Celebrity Golf Championship practice round. Many more will play in the celebrity amateur event starting on Friday. Notable participants include NBA star Kyle Lowry, NFL players Travis Kelce and Charles Woodson, NFL legends Jerry Rice and Larry Fitzgerald, NBA icons Ray Allen and Alex Rodriguez, MLB greats Chase Utley and John Smoltz, former NFL quarterbacks Tony Romo and John Elway, MLB pitcher Roger Clemens, NFL quarterback Steve Young, NFL quarterback Joe Flacco, and NBA player Austin Reaves, among others.
Jason Kelce’s relaxed approach and humorous take on the game have endeared him to fans and fellow competitors alike. His presence at the tournament, along with the other high-profile names, promises an exciting and entertaining event for all involved.
