Patrick Mahomes, the Kansas City Chiefs’ star quarterback, remains unbothered by the antics of his AFC West rivals, particularly a recent stunt involving a Kermit the Frog doll.
During the Las Vegas Raiders’ training camp, rookie safety Trey Taylor was seen mocking Mahomes with a doll dressed in a number 15 jersey, complete with a wig resembling Mahomes’ hair, and mimicking his voice.
When asked about the incident on Friday, Mahomes responded with characteristic calm. “It’s still early in the year; stuff like that happens,” he said casually. “It’ll get handled when it gets handled.”
Mahomes, a two-time MVP, has an impressive record against the Raiders, boasting a 10-2 career record. His stats against Las Vegas are remarkable, with a 66% completion rate, 5,062 passing yards, 43 touchdowns, and only six interceptions. These numbers highlight his dominance, even by his high standards.
The Chiefs have consistently outperformed the Raiders, often using creative, backyard-style plays in their matchups. Despite a Raiders victory at Arrowhead Stadium last Christmas under the leadership of head coach Antonio Pierce, Mahomes’ overall record against AFC West teams stands at an extraordinary 35-5.
Mahomes emphasized that he doesn’t need external motivation. “They don’t need to send me anything to keep me motivated,” he said, dismissing the idea that friends or family had shown him the clip.
The Chiefs have dominated the AFC West, winning the division every year since 2015. Mahomes has led the team to three Super Bowl victories since 2018. In contrast, the Raiders, Chargers, and Broncos have combined for zero playoff victories and just two postseason appearances in the same period.
As Mahomes prepares for another season, his focus remains on continuing the Chiefs’ success rather than engaging in off-field distractions. The star quarterback’s calm demeanor and impressive track record suggest that he will let his performance on the field speak for itself.
