NFL star Travis Kelce is stepping off the football field and onto the game show stage as the host of Prime Video’s upcoming series, Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?.
The show is set to premiere on Wednesday, October 16, with the first three episodes dropping simultaneously.
Following the premiere, fans can look forward to a new episode every week.
Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity? is a fresh take on the popular game show Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?, with Kelce, the Kansas City Chiefs’ champion, bringing his charisma to the role of host. The show will feature adult contestants who attempt to answer 11 questions from elementary school subjects, with the help of a classroom full of celebrities from the worlds of comedy, television, and sports.
In a twist that sets this show apart from its predecessor, contestants don’t compete against the celebrities; instead, they can enlist their help, and even “cheat” off them, in a bid to win up to $100,000. The final, high-stakes question, always set at a 6th-grade level, allows the contestant to consult with one celebrity before locking in their answer.
Season 1’s lineup of celebrity helpers includes comedians like Nikki Glaser, Natasha Leggero, Nicole Byer, and Ron Funches, as well as reality TV stars such as Garcelle Beauvais from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and Lala Kent from Vanderpump Rules. Sports personalities like Thursday Night Football analyst Ryan Fitzpatrick and former NFL wide receiver Chad Ochocinco will also lend their knowledge, alongside other notable figures like podcaster Sophia Stallone and former late-night host Lilly Singh.
The series is produced by MGM Alternative, a division of Amazon MGM Studios, with Wes Kauble and Mark Burnett serving as executive producers. The show is co-executive produced by Sean Kelly, Steve Hughes, Susan Janis-Mashayekhi, and Tamara Akins, and distributed globally by Amazon MGM Studios Distributions.
Fans of trivia and celebrity culture will want to mark their calendars for October 16 to see if the contestants—and the celebrities—are truly smarter than a 6th grader, with Travis Kelce leading the way in what promises to be an entertaining and educational show.
