Jason Kelce says he & Travis always ‘Tried to Support Each Other’ when both played in NFL

Jason and Travis Kelce, two of the NFL’s most celebrated brothers, recently opened up about their unique bond and historic Super Bowl matchup during a candid conversation on the Green Light with Chris Long podcast. The episode, released on August 9th, also featured former Philadelphia Eagles tight end Brent Celek.

Chris Long, the podcast host and a former teammate of Jason Kelce on the Eagles, expressed his long-standing admiration for Travis Kelce, who currently plays for the Kansas City Chiefs.

Long shared his thoughts on Travis’ unwavering support for his brother, Jason, particularly how Travis would attend Jason’s games during the NFL season, often donning Eagles gear. “That’s love,” Long stated. “That’s brotherhood.”Jason Kelce says he & Travis always 'Tried to Support Each Other' when both played in NFL

Jason Kelce, now 36, reflected on how their bond became more widely recognized after the historic Super Bowl LVII on February 12, 2023, where the Kelce brothers made history as the first siblings to face off against each other in the Super Bowl. The game, held at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, saw the Kansas City Chiefs emerge victorious over the Philadelphia Eagles, leaving Jason on the losing side of the sibling rivalry.

“It’s funny because we lost to the Chiefs in the Super Bowl two years ago,” Jason said, noting that it was only after this highly publicized game that people started paying attention to the brothers’ close relationship. “Nobody noticed during the first 11 years of my career that I went to Chiefs games and wore Chiefs gear, but after the Super Bowl, everyone was like, ‘Why are you wearing Chiefs gear?’ I’ve been doing this ever since my brother has been in Kansas City.”

The conversation also delved into the brothers’ mutual support despite their busy NFL schedules. “I think we’ve always tried to support each other when we can,” Jason added. “When you’re both playing, it’s hard to find the time.”

The Kelce brothers, who co-host the popular New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce podcast, previously shared that playing against each other in the Super Bowl had been a lifelong dream. Travis Kelce, 34, described the experience as “wild and kind of surreal,” admitting that he had always envisioned such a moment. “It’s been the goal, and now that it’s actually happening, it’s kind of sick. Now, someone’s got to send their brother home,” Travis remarked.

During Friday’s discussion, which coincided with the closing ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics, Jason Kelce also entertained the idea of competing in the Olympics with his brother, albeit in a different sport. “My brother and I have talked a lot about curling,” Jason confessed with a laugh. “Curling is low impact.”

As the Kelce brothers continue to make headlines both on and off the field, their bond remains an inspiring testament to family loyalty in the world of professional sports.
