Jason Kelce has unshakeable support for his brother and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. Now that he’s exited from the Philadelphia Eagles, he’s savoring every moment of the Chiefs’ games even more.
While Patrick Mahomes and Co. narrowly missed out on a win against the Detroit Lions in their Week 2 preseason game, Jason found plenty to celebrate among the thrilling moments that made the game memorable.
Jason Kelce Praises Former Teammate, Carson Wentz
The beloved retired Eagles center watched the game from a fan’s perspective, and he took to X to express his enthusiasm: “Behind the back passes, Carson Wentz touchdown throws, Nate Sudfeld touchdown throws, this is up there with my most enjoyed preseason games so far,” he tweeted.
Among the standout plays, Mahomes’ behind-the-back pass to Taylor Swift’s boyfriend was the undeniable highlight.
In a moment that looked like pure Mahomes magic, the quarterback connected with his tight end despite a mix-up in the route.
Jason’s support didn’t stop there. Some other Chiefs athletes also got a shoutout from the senior Kelce.
Kansas City’s backup quarterback Wentz, who found Xavier Worthy behind the Lions and helped the Chiefs recover with a 22-yard touchdown, rightly made the list. Kelce and Wentz were teammates in Philadelphia from 2016 to 2020, so it makes sense that he’s rooting for the veteran QB.
He also showed love to Sudfeld, another former Eagles teammate. Kelce and Sudfeld played together from 2017 to 2020.
The Chiefs suffered a close 24-23 loss against Dan Campbell’s team, and you can’t ask for many more thrills from a preseason game.
Kansas City Chiefs Are Already Looking Ahead Despite the Loss
One of the standout moments of the game was Mahomes’ behind-the-back pass to Kelce, which showed off Mahomes’ signature improvisational skills. The highlight was so satisfying that hard-to-impress Chiefs head coach Andy Reid seemed pleased with the play, even though it was born out of a route mistake.
“I heard he blamed (Travis) Kelce, but that’s alright. He does it in practice every day, and I’m alright as long as it’s a completion,” Reid commented after the game.
Looking ahead, the Chiefs’ preseason performance, while not perfect, gave fans plenty to be optimistic about. The game certainly brought out their offensive creativity with Mahomes and Kelce once again boasting their chemistry.
For those who know them well, it is one of the prerequisites for the Chiefs’ quest for a three-peat this season.
Now that he’s retired, Jason Kelce is savoring every moment of Chiefs games, who are pulling behind-the-back passes in the preseason.
