Kate Middleton swapped out one of her most iconic jewelry pieces for a new ring in the touching video she released yesterday.

Prince Charles was the first to gift the stunning sapphire engagement ring to Diana, Princess Of Wales. It was so iconic that Prince William went on to propose to Kate with the very same ring.

But Princess Kate has now swapped the sapphire engagement ring – estimated to be worth £300,000 today – for a new ‘eternity band’.

It’s not the first time she’s worn the eternity band, as it was spotted on her finger in a previous video where she and William congratulated Team GB after the Paris Olympics.

Fans have speculated that the band could be a gift from her husband Prince William to signify a ‘fresh start’ now that she’s finished chemotherapy.

The ring appears to be made of gold and set with diamonds and sapphires, making it quite similar to the Princess’ engagement ring.

Interestingly, Diana and Kate’s engagement ring was not custom-made like many of the other royal engagement bands.

The sapphire ring was actually featured in Gerrard’s jewellery collection at the time Charles proposed to Diana.

Kate’s ‘eternity ring’ was seen in the video she released yesterday, announcing she had finished her cancer treatment.

‘Life as you know it can change in an instant’, Kate said. ‘And we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown.

‘The cancer journey is complex, scary and unpredictable for everyone, especially those closest to you.

‘With humility, it also brings you face to face with your own vulnerabilities in a way you have never considered before, and with that, a new perspective on everything.

‘This time has above all reminded William and me to reflect and be grateful for the simple yet important things in life, which so many of us often take for granted.

‘Of simply loving and being loved.’

The Princess of Wales disappeared from public view for months before revealing in March that she was undergoing preventative chemotherapy.
