Following Mercedes’ strategic error with Lewis Hamilton in the recently concluded Singapore Grand Prix, fans and experts criticized Toto Wolff’s team on and off the track.
Hamilton did not appreciate the mistake and shared his disappointment in front of the media following the race’s conclusion. However, the seven-time world champion now backtracked on his criticism, and it was something that fans did not accept conventionally.
Hamilton saw the Singapore GP jeopardized before his eyes after Mercedes started him with the wrong tire. They fitted him with the soft compound tires whereas all the top ten drivers started with medium compounds.
As a result, Hamilton not only missed out on the podium but also lost three places in the Marina Bay Circuit race.
The Briton qualified behind championship contenders Lando Norris and Max Verstappen but lost out places as soon as the race started. The team’s Technical Director James Allison speaking about the strategy revealed they wanted him to gain some places with faster soft tires. However, it backfired.

As the Silver Arrows continued to receive criticism daily, Hamilton recently arrived to rescue them on social media. However, this did not go well with the fans, as they continued to hold Mercedes accountable on X.
A fan directly blamed Mercedes boss Toto Wolff for this, saying:
“He’s being held at gunpoint by Toto himself. what the hell is this uncle even saying…..”
“They holding him at gun point omg,” another fan wrote reiterating the same.
“So now even the PR strategy is Lewis inshallah?,” wrote a fan asking if Hamilton is now a PR professional.
Another fan wrote about Hamilton’s PR ‘stunt,’ “Damn they got him doing their PR now.”
Another fan had a question about Hamilton’s action, “Why is he writing this?”
“They’re holding him hostage,” wrote another fan, joking about Hamilton’s action.
Hamilton is currently occupying P6 of the Drivers’ Championship with 174 points.

“I know there has been a lot of chat around the last one and our strategy in Singapore which just didn’t work. When that happens, it’s natural to be frustrated and easy for me to speak out in frustration.”
“Make no mistake though, things are cool with the team. As with all successful partnerships, you have to have some lows to have the highs.”
