Princess Kate is expected to receive a very special gift over the next few days from a designer brand she loves, Express.co.uk can exclusively reveal.
The Princess of Wales, 42, will be given one of the first-ever pairs of vegan UGGs. This comes after the princess was once spotted wearing the traditional UGG boots before.
PETA, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals Foundation, has confirmed they will be sending Kate a pair of the cruelty-free boots for her to keep.
In a letter to the princess, the foundation writes that the UGGs, which have been created in collaboration with Collina Strada, are made from sugarcane, TENCEL, and recycled polyester microfibre.
These materials reduce the suffering of sheep in the wool industry, PETA say.
This comes after PETA entities’ investigations uncovered cruelty to sheep at over 100 wool-industry operations worldwide where shearers have been seen punching, stamping on, and kicking sheep, which are then sent to slaughter when they stop producing as much wool.
PETA Vice President of Programmes and Operations Elisa Allen said the new boots will stop the suffering of these animals in the wool industry.
Allen said: “These stylish boots are perfect for gardening, taking leisurely walks, or curling up on the sofa, and best of all, they spare sheep a lifetime of suffering.
“PETA hopes Princess Kate will enjoy wearing these beautiful, stylish boots during this period of rest and reflection knowing they are kind to animals and the planet.”
According to Hello! Magazine, Princess Kate enjoyed wearing UGG boots in her early days dating Prince William.
In a picture taken in London in 2007, the now future Queen was spotted wearing a light coloured pair of the shoes as she walked along the high street in low cut jeans.
Other royals known to like the comfy shoes include Meghan Markle and Prince Archie.
