Carlos Sainz took a dig at Mattia Binotto over the latter’s claim of not wanting to sign Lewis Hamilton at Ferrari.
Carlos Sainz faced a disappointing situation after he was ousted from Ferrari to make way for Lewis Hamilton.
The Spaniard had to resort to joining Williams in the coming season. Ex-Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto had also noted that he wouldn’t consider signing the seven-time world champion. However, Sainz hit back at Binotto for these claims despite being ousted.
Mattia Binotto previously took a sly dig at Fred Vasseur for signing Lewis Hamilton, effectively undermining Charles Leclerc.
Carlos Sainz, despite having some ill feelings after being kicked out due to the Briton, wasn’t on Binotto’s side. The Spaniard claimed that Hamilton and Leclerc were both amazing drivers in Formula 1, especially as teammates.
Furthermore, Sainz reckoned that he didn’t get involved with other people’s opinions on such matters in Formula 1. The Spaniard further fired shots and claimed that he had his own opinions but kept them to himself, hinting Binotto to do the same. Hence, it will be amazing to witness Leclerc and Hamilton’s partnership at Ferrari next year.

Carlos Sainz asserts his goal in Formula 1 to ‘win the world championship’
Carlos Sainz’s father, Carlos Sainz Sr. is also a decorated man who has won the Dakar Rally multiple times. Sainz Jr. initially mentioned that his father would race in the Rally again this year even at the age of 62. Subsequently, the 30-year-old added that he was more of a short-term guy and his current goal was to win the world championship.

After securing a move to Williams for the coming season, Sainz would have to work extremely hard to make it to the front. The Grove-based constructor is having a difficult time scoring points this season amidst a struggling pace. Regardless, the regulation changes by 2026 could put forth a surprising situation for the team alongside Sainz.
