Lewis Hamilton claims he could’ve finished higher at Dutch GP if he started from George Russell’s grid slot

Lewis Hamilton reckoned that he could’ve finished higher than George Russell had he started from P4 at the Dutch GP.

Lewis Hamilton had a difficult weekend at the Dutch GP. The seven-time world champion was on the backfoot after getting knocked out in Q2. Nevertheless, Hamilton managed to make up a few places in the race. The Briton revealed that he was more comfortable during the race after finishing in eighth place.

The seven-time world champion claimed that he was much happier in the Grand Prix after a painful outing on Saturday. Lewis Hamilton admitted that he suffered from understeer during his first stint. Although, the car was more drivable in his second stint.

I was much happier today. I was moving forward. Had understeer in P1, it was better in P2 and we backed off some wing.

George Russell perplexed after P7 finish at Dutch GP

George Russell was disappointed after finishing seventh in the race. The 26-year-old was confused about what happened to his car’s performance. Russell highlighted that he struggled on all three tire compounds. The Mercedes driver reckoned that something had gone wrong for the team as it even failed to match even Ferrari’s pace this weekend.

Don't really understand what happened. We were slow on all three tires. We don't understand how we could be so close to the three cars ahead and today behind the Ferrari. We definitely got something wrong somewhere.

George Russell said post-race

Certainly, Lewis Hamilton and George Russell are not happy with their performance in Zandvoort. Mercedes will have work to do to understand why the car struggled this weekend. The Silver Arrows will need to bounce back in the upcoming races to stay in the fight at the front.
