Formula E star Lucas di Grassi made it clear that Lewis Hamilton was not the right choice for Scuderia Ferrari.
Scuderia Ferrari made headlines after announcing it had signed Lewis Hamilton for 2025. This move witnessed divided opinions across the paddock with some not agreeing with Maranello’s decision. Former Formula E champion Lucas di Grassi has now joined this list.
Di Grassi claimed that if he was in the position of Ferrari boss Fred Vasseur, he would’ve never made the call to poach Hamilton from Mercedes. The Brazilian made it clear that Lewis Hamilton is simply too expensive for a driver who is essentially no longer in his prime at the age of 39.
I never would hire Hamilton for Ferrari if I were to get screwed. Firstly, it is expensive, it is very expensive and I think he is no longer in his prime.

Lucas di Grassi is not the only one with this view. Former Ferrari boss Mattia Binotto had made a similar comment against the Scuderia’s decision. Though, Fred Vasseur has come out and stated that he remains unbothered by comments on Lewis Hamilton’s arrival.
Lucas di Grassi gives alternate to Lewis Hamilton for Ferrari
The Season 3 Formula E champion reckoned that the Italian team would be better off hiring someone else to replace Carlos Sainz. Lucas di Grassi stated that Maranello needed a driver who was in his prime and could help Ferrari reach its target. The Brazilian seems to have no faith in Lewis Hamilton following the Briton’s underwhelming final season at Mercedes.
I would hire another driver who will reach the prime within Ferrari at the right time.

Nevertheless, Ferrari remains confident in Hamilton. The seven-time world champion will bring a new perspective to Maranello. This could be immensely beneficial for the Italian team after finishing second in the Constructors’ standings. However, it remains to be seen how things out for the 39-year-old next year.
