The holiday season is upon us, and that means a whole new wave of festive tunes to get everyone in the Christmas spirit. While you’ll hear classics like “Silent Night” and “O Come, O Come Emmanuel” filling the air, one song has been given a unique spin that you won’t hear anywhere else: “Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer.”
But don’t expect the usual story about a reindeer leading Santa’s sleigh—this time, the star is none other than Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes!
A group of third-graders from Cornerstone Elementary School in Excelsior Springs, Missouri, decided to add their own twist to the beloved holiday song during a Christmas concert for their parents. Instead of singing about Rudolph, they reimagined the lyrics to make it all about the NFL superstar. That’s right—Mahomes is now the hero of this Christmas tale!
The transformation from reindeer to quarterback may sound unusual, but it works brilliantly. The students sang about Patrick Mahomes’ heroic plays and athletic prowess, making the song a fun tribute to the beloved Chiefs QB. As one could imagine, it was an incredibly creative and entertaining rendition that got everyone cheering.
So how did this Mahomes-inspired version of “Rudolph” come to be? According to Cornerstone’s music teacher, Holly Deleon, it all started with a simple idea: how to get the boys in the program excited about singing. “I was just thinking, ‘What can I do to get these boys really excited about the music program?’” Deleon said. And what better way to motivate young fans of the Chiefs than by combining their love for football with their love for Christmas music?
The result? An absolute hit! The students nailed their performance, bringing their own energy and creativity to the stage, much to the delight of the audience. While we may already be flooded with Mahomes content thanks to the NFL’s constant coverage, this clever and fun version of a Christmas classic is something that definitely stands out.
It’s not every day you see “Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer” turned into an NFL tribute, and this performance is a shining example of how music can be a fun and exciting way to inspire kids. And let’s be honest—who doesn’t love a good Mahomes remix, especially when it’s wrapped in holiday cheer?
So, this holiday season, if you find yourself humming a new version of the classic Christmas tune, you can thank the talented third-graders at Cornerstone Elementary for their creative spin on the legendary reindeer song. What’s next? Maybe a version with Mahomes throwing passes to Santa’s sleigh team? The possibilities are endless!
