At 18 years old, Zahara joined the Alpha Kappa Alpha (AKA) Sorority, the first intercollegiate historically African American sorority.

In a recent video posted by Essence, Zahara is seen dancing across a stage in a ceremony where she is initiated into the AKA Sorority. The Instagram post from Essence congratulates Zahara and mentions her significant decision to join the sorority at Spelman College.
