Behind the glitz and glamour of life in the spotlight, Brittany Mahomes, wife of NFL star Patrick Mahomes, has been quietly enduring a challenging health battle. Known for her fitness-focused lifestyle and influencer status, Brittany revealed a surprising back injury earlier this year, shortly after welcoming her second child.
In March, Brittany took to her Instagram Stories to open up about the injury. She shared an important message for other mothers, stating: “Once you have kids, please take care of your pelvic floor.
Seriously, from a girl with a fractured back.” The injury occurred after Brittany, who has always maintained a rigorous workout routine, resumed her pre-pregnancy fitness regime too soon.
Experts quickly weighed in on the connection between pelvic floor health and lower back injuries. Dr. Yves-Richard Dole, an OB/GYN, explained to Women’s Health in June how the pelvic floor is intrinsically linked to the lower back. After giving birth, many women, including Brittany, may not realize the vulnerability of these areas, especially when jumping back into intense physical activities.

Reflecting on her experience, Brittany explained during an appearance on the “Whoop” podcast in August that her lifelong dedication to fitness may have contributed to her injury. “I obviously worked out my whole life, so I had kids and then I’m like, ‘Oh, I’ll just keep working out how I’ve always worked out.’ Well, I hurt my back,” she recalled.
Though fans were initially shocked by the news, Brittany shared a positive update in May, telling E! News she was “fully recovered” and close to feeling like her old self again. However, even with her recovery, she had to be cautious about her return to the gym. In June, Brittany shared on Instagram that while her back pain had resolved, she was slowly reintroducing overhead lifts using lighter weights.
Adding to the complexity of her journey is Brittany’s third pregnancy, which she confirmed this summer. The process of healing from her back injury while also navigating a pregnancy has been an additional challenge, but Brittany continues to remain open about her recovery and fitness routine, offering inspiration and advice to her followers.
While her life may appear picture-perfect on social media, Brittany’s story is a reminder that even those in the public eye face struggles behind the scenes. Through her transparency, she is helping to shed light on the importance of postpartum recovery and pelvic floor health, proving that even the strongest among us need to slow down and heal.
