Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen are two of the most well-paid athletes in sporting history but there is one F1 driver that will one day be worth more than both

F1 star Lance Stroll is set to one day inherit a monumental fortune from his father. The total is so excessive that it exceeds the joint net worth of Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen five times over.

The F1 season concluded in December and right now, fans are waiting for the new season to begin in March. An Aston Martin driver, Stroll will be very keen to improve on his 2025 showing, with the Canadian star experiencing his toughest campaign to date. In his fifth season with the team, he managed only 16th place.

Stroll is in his ninth season of F1 and was out-performed by team-mate Fernando Alonso. His performances were also criticised by rookie Franco Colapinto, who claimed “Stroll is just always taking people out” after his aggressive defence against Gabriel Bortoleto in Brazil.

It’s reported that Stroll bags around £2.3m per season with Aston Martin and while that figure is not to be sniffed at, the north American driver will inherit a colossal fortune when his father passes on.

Stroll’s father is Larence, a Canadian businessman who made his millions through savvy investments into fashion and luxury goods industries.

One of his earliest investments was in Pierre Cardin, which went on to become the company’s largest shareholder. It has previously been estimated to be worth £1b.

Further investments saw the businessman dip into the market with Tommy Hilfiger and Michael Kors, selling shares in the latter 13 years ago.

A massive profit made by Lawrence was through the sale of Sportswear Holdings, which owned the rights to Pepe Jeans and Ralph Lauren.

Eight years ago in 2018, he led a group of investors to buy Force India – a racing team – for £90million plus £15m of their debt. Then in 2020, he became executive director of Aston Martin after leading a £182m investment and then appointed his son as the team’s driver.

Thanks to these investments and life in business, Lawrence has acquired a jaw-dropping net worth of £2.65bn, according to Celebrity Net Worth.

Hamilton boasts a net worth of £335m and Verstappen has £149m, which means that one day, Stroll’s wealth could be more than five times that of his current opponents combined.

British racing legend Hamilton has been working hard to build his wealth even more, investing in NFL team Denver Broncos last year and owning a film production company on top of his £46.8m salary.

Verstappen is currently the highest-paid F1 driver on the circuit, taking home £50m a year from Red Bull. Stroll is in 13th place with 2.3m annually. The lowest-paid F1 driver is Isack Hadjar, who bags between £400k-£800k per season.
