Fred Vasseur labels Lewis Hamilton a ‘good asset’ in fight against McLaren and Red Bull

Fred Vasseur believes that Lewis Hamilton would prove to be a great asset to Ferrari alongside Charles Leclerc in the 2025 season.

Lewis Hamilton is all set to join Ferrari in the 2025 season and get up to speed from the get-go. The Italian constructor has banked high hopes on the Briton to take the team back to their glory days. Hence, amidst the preparations, Ferrari team boss Fred Vasseur labeled Hamilton as a ‘good asset’ in the team’s fight against McLaren and Red Bull.

Ferrari showcased a great improvement in performance over the 2024 season after contending for the constructors’ championship until the very last race. Hence, the team’s pace will only improve under the seven-time world champion’s expertise. Fred Vasseur talked highly of Lewis Hamilton‘s performances in the past when the two worked together. Moreover, Vasseur highlighted the minuscule difference in delta between Maranello and McLaren over the 2024 season.

I perfectly remember Lewis, 2005-6, that he was already like this, pushing on small details. And at the end of the day, if you have a look, I think average, the delta between McLaren and us in qualification is a couple of hundredths.

Apart from McLaren, Red Bull, and Mercedes also closely competed with Ferrari despite the former falling behind the pecking order in standings. Hence, Maranello must enter the 2025 season with the mindset to improve over the last one thousandth in every single area. Vasseur raised confidence in Hamilton’s capabilities to help the team improve in this area.

We are really at this stage, and it’s also with Red Bull and Mercedes, that we are speaking about details, coming from 100 topics of the car. It means that we really need to have this kind of mindset, to chase the last one thousandth on every single area – and I think Lewis will be a good asset for this also.

Lewis Hamilton to come to Ferrari with his ‘own experience’

Lewis Hamilton is one of the most successful drivers on the Formula 1 grid after matching the legendary Michael Schumacher in terms of championship wins. The Briton also holds a lot of experience in the sport after racing for so long. Hence, Fred Vasseur claimed that the 39-year-old would come to the team with his own set of experiences. The team will aim to do a bit better in every aspect combined with efforts from every member of the team.

I’m convinced that Lewis will come with his own experience with the background of 18 years in F1, with a couple of titles. It’s just to keep this mindset to try to do a bit better everywhere, not to imagine that the performance is coming from the others into the team.

Fred Vasseur noted

Hamilton will join Charles Leclerc and form a highly formidable pair on the grid against the rivals. The two drivers have great capabilities and will surely help Ferrari improve over the smallest difference. Hence, the coming season would be exciting for the Tifosi as the Italian constructor could finally win the championship after a victory drought of over a decade.
