Jamie Lynn Spears, the sister of pop star Britney Spears, has left the popular reality TV show I’m A Celebrity…
Get Me Out Of Here! due to serious medical issues.
Her departure was confirmed on Wednesday afternoon, making her the second contestant to leave the jungle on medical grounds. The spokesperson for the show praised Spears as a fantastic campmate who successfully completed trials and bonded well with the other celebrities.
Initially, the 32-year-old singer had considered quitting the show last week due to homesickness and missing her children. In an emotional episode, she expressed her difficulty in being so far away from her family. Spears’ emotions were further heightened when a challenge to win luxury items for the contestants revealed her prize to be a photo of her two daughters. In an attempt to connect with her loved ones, she used the camp phone, normally reserved for challenges, to call her family in the US.
During her time on the show, Spears opened up about her complicated upbringing and her relationship with her sister Britney. Despite their issues, she regarded Britney as a caring big sister who would be worried about her well-being in the jungle. Spears also discussed the challenges she faced after becoming pregnant as a teenager while working on the TV series Zoey 101. She shared how her daughter surviving a near-drowning incident in a family pond led her to embrace the Catholic faith.
Other celebrities taking part in this year’s show include Nigel Farage, the former UKIP leader, Fred Sirieix from First Dates, and Marvin Humes from JLS. Although this season has garnered a lower audience compared to the previous year, it continues to captivate viewers with its thrilling challenges and celebrity interactions. The show’s launch was watched by seven million people in its first week.
