Jason Kelce Reveals the One Thing That Would Make Him ‘Entertain’ Unretiring From the NFL

While Jason Kelce appears to be smoothly transitioning into life post-professional football after he retired from the NFL, the former Philadelphia Eagles player revealed that there is one thing that would make him consider returning.

Kelce spoke with The Associated Press about this new stage of his life, declaring, “For me personally, my days of playing are just done.”

But Kelce then admitted one thing that could change his mind, saying, “I do not foresee any scenario taking place other than maybe medicine inventing a way to get rid of arthritis that I would ever entertain coming back at all anymore.”

The 36-year-old also noted that, since retiring, he has slimmed down quite a bit, which would make it harder for him to step back into his position of center on a football team: “They’re not going to call me to come back and play center at 260 pounds, and I’m moving on to the next thing and I’m excited to watch Cam [Jurgens].” imago1037691787Jurgens moved into Kelce’s position on the Eagles after his retirement.
During an episode of Kelce’s podcast New Heights with his younger brother Travis Kelce last year, the now-retired player opened up about his struggles with arthritis, saying, “Did you know your foot could get arthritis? I thought arthritis was like limited to like joints.”

“But it’s not the ankle, and I thought like you’d get arthritis in your ankle,” he explained, before talking about how painful it was. “I was doing one of the first running drills this offseason. And I was like, ‘I think I might have got like a stress fracture in my foot.'”

Since retiring, Kelce has been off adventuring, traveling to Paris, France, with his wife Kylie for the Olympics. Recently, he officially stepped into his new role as an ESPN correspondent for the Monday Night Countdown show.
