Just when it seemed that the ongoing war between King Charles’s two sons was beginning to cool down, a new flame reignited the feud between Prince Harry and Prince William.
The estranged siblings have not been on speaking terms since the past three years. Meanwhile, and while the Duke of Sussex is working on a reconciliation with his father, the brothers have been at a complete impasse.
On Monday, a spokesperson for Prince Harry revealed that he would be visiting Toronto on November 5–6 to support the veterans’ charity True Patriot Love Foundation, a direct clash with William’s Earthshot Prize ceremony in Brazil on November 5.
The announcement also coincided with the arrival of the Prince of Wales in Rio De Janeiro on Monday. William had been making major headlines as he received a warm welcome.
It is not unusual that a Sussex event is coinciding with a major royal event and eagle-eyed royal watchers believed that this may have been Harry’s attempt to steal the spotlight from William.
Although, Harry’s team debunked the claims noting that the trip had been planned for months and the King’s office was notified beforehand “as a courtesy”, via The Royalist.
Earlier in July, during a meeting between the top aides of Harry and the monarch, the Duke of Sussex had offered to share his diary engagements to avoid any overlapping of events. He had extended the same courtesy to Kensington Palace – the office of the Prince and Princess of Wales.
Moreover, when juxtaposing the two events, William’s mega climate event in Brazil followed by the global climate summit COP30, Harry’s charity dinner in Toronto appears modest.
Harry has shared that he has been trying to repair his relations with the royal family so to inform beforehand of his next event could have been an effort to not exacerbate the already tense relations.
