The British Royal Family tend to portray a very calm and regal persona to the watching world and that is part of what has made them so popular internationally.

That image is carefully curated, though, and some recent anger from King Charles III shows how fragile it all is and how important the various members of staff are, particularly during public appearances.

The King and Queen Camilla were visiting the Channel Islands recently and received a warm reception from the aged populations of Jersey and Guernsey, but there was one sticky moment.

Camilla’s coat troubles
The monarch, 75, was visibly frustrated with a staffer who left his wife, Queen Camilla, struggling to put her coat on in stormy weather.

Charles told his wife to “move your arm through the back,” before turning to his aide and yelling, “Come and help her!” expert lip reader Jacqui Press told the Daily Mail.

There was another hairy moment on the trip as the two royals were quickly rushed away from one of their engagements at the wish of the security team, and it turns out the fear was sparked by a drone flying nearby according to unconfirmed reports.

Many people had queued up to meet Charles and a 56-year-old resident of Guernsey, Jacquie Gordon, seemed impressed by Charles’ ‘rough hands’ that made him seem like a ‘proper worker’.

She said: “I shook the King’s hand and it was rough, like a proper worker who does things with his hands.”

Another royal fan, Christine Morton, 75, added: “Yes, he has a proper handshake, which I like.”
