After weeks of trying to persuade her husband, Jason Kelce, to get a cat, Kylie Kelce has finally found a way to make it happen.
On Wednesday’s episode of the podcast “New Heights with Travis and Jason Kelce,” the brothers discussed Jason’s shirtless escapades at Sunday’s game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Buffalo Bills.
The NFL tight end teased in a clip posted to Instagram that it was “pure pandemonium” when he watched his brother take his shirt off and jump into the crowd after Travis’s touchdown.
“I’ll tell you, man, if you don’t run for president, then this is all going to go to waste,” Travis, 34, joked. Jason, 36, replied, “There’s nothing political about this. This is just a man in his element with his Bills Mafia compadres enjoying the dead of winter. That’s what this is.”
When Travis said he wished the cameras caught Jason’s wife Kylie’s reaction to the moment, Jason revealed that he had planned it and warned his wife in advance. “I’m not going to lie; I gave Kylie a heads up,” Jason confessed. “I said the moment we get in that suite, I’m taking my shirt off, and I jumped out of that suite. She said, ‘Jason, don’t you dare.’ I’m like, ‘Hey, I’m just letting you know what’s happening. I’m not asking for permission. I’m doing this.’ Once a Kelce man is determined, there’s no f***ing stopping him.”
This part of the conversation struck a chord with Kylie, who realized she could use her husband’s words to her advantage. “I’m not asking for permission. I’m doing this,” she commented on a clip the podcast’s Instagram account posted. “The exact quote I will say when I’m grabbing the keys to go get a cat.” This comment has since garnered over 55,000 likes.
The “New Heights” Instagram account then posted a screenshot of Kylie’s comment with the caption, “Congrats on the new pet, Jason Kelce.” On a previous episode of “New Heights” in December, Kylie and Travis discussed how they could work together to get Jason on board with adding a feline to the family. “Here’s the deal: I told Jason that I want to get a cat,” Kylie said. “And he told me no. And I feel like you might like cats now.”
Jason and Travis also discussed why they found Jason’s antics on Sunday particularly funny. That night, Jason and Kylie were meeting Travis’s girlfriend, Taylor Swift. “She was already telling me to be on my best behavior because we were meeting Taylor,” Jason laughed before adding, “I’m like, Kylie, when I met you the first time, I was blacked out drunk and fell asleep at the bar. This is part of the charm.”
The NFL brothers bantered about Jason’s bad behavior, with Jason standing his ground that he makes the best first impression. “By best first impressions, you mean the worst first impression,” Travis said as the two broke out in laughter.
At the January 21st game, Swift was seen sitting with the Kelce family, including Jason, Kylie, and Donna Kelce. The retired banking executive and grandmother of three “likes Taylor and thinks she’s very sweet and down-to-earth,” a source close to the family told People last year. “It’s been a ride, that’s for sure,” Donna, 71, said in November. “Sometimes I feel I’m on some kind of a different planet. I’m like, what has my life become?”
The Kelce family’s humorous and heartwarming dynamics continue to endear them to fans, with Kylie’s clever use of Jason’s words marking a win in their playful marital negotiations.
