On Sunday, July 28th, former Philadelphia Eagles All-Pro center Jason Kelce and his wife Kylie Kelce attended the second session of the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Jason Kelce, sporting a blue beret and white T-shirt, engaged in an arm wrestling match with Olympians, showcasing his competitive spirit even off the football field.
The Kelce’s made the trip to Paris following Jason’s recent retirement from the NFL, marking the perfect opportunity to experience the Olympic Games firsthand. “I’ve always wanted to come and see an Olympic Games,” Kylie told the Associated Press after Team USA’s hockey match against medal favorite Argentina, which ended in a 4-1 defeat.
“When they qualified to come to Paris, I was like, that kind of makes sense, and then when I got to sit down with Ashley and Khi, it was kind of a no-brainer. Through and through, it made sense. We’re happy to be here.”:max_bytes(150000):strip_icc():focal(927x640:929x642)/Kylie-Jason-Kelce-Olympics-USA-Field-Hockey-072824-04-d3921a402cd44d4a8d1acf3537b1f999.jpg)
While Jason was able to attend, his brother, Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce, was busy with NFL training camp, and his famous girlfriend, Taylor Swift, was on a European tour in Munich. Reflecting on the opportunity, Jason shared, “When we found out that we were going to have an opportunity to go to this, the more we thought about it, we were like, let’s take advantage of it now that we can actually do it. We love sports, we love competition, we love world events. This is such a unique place where the entire world gets to come together and bond over competition and sports.”
Jason’s connection to sports runs deep, having won a Super Bowl during his 13 seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles. Kylie also has a strong sports background, having played defender in field hockey in high school and college. She humorously recounted her experience with Olympians Ashley Sessa and Khila Page, mentioning a TikTok video where she felt she embarrassed herself but deemed it worth it. “It was just really cool to sit down and talk with them about what this means to them, how they’ve looked forward to it, and what it took for them to get here. It is so amazing to see them on this stage,” Kylie said. “It’s just sort of this full circle moment of I feel like the field hockey community really bands together. No matter what level you’re playing, you can appreciate what this is.”
The Kelces’ visit to the Paris Olympics highlights their love for sports and the unique camaraderie and excitement that international competitions bring.
