He has been largely out of sight since last month’s defeat by the Philadelphia Eagles in New Orleans, Louisiana.

One of his rare public appearances related to his alma mater Texas Tech University.

He watched the school’s basketball team play from court side with wife Brittany.

And the 29-year-old has been following their fortunes in March Madness.

Texas Tech’s dream run in the men’s NCAA Tournament came to an end this week.

They were beaten by Florida in the Elite Eight on Saturday.

Mahomes had a two-word message for his former college.

“Great season,” the Chiefs superstar simply wrote on X.

The NFL icon turned into every other sports fan as he was glued to the NCAA Tournament.

Last Thursday he was hyped up after the Sweet 16 stage.

Texas Tech won an overtime thriller 85-83 against Arkansas to seal a quarterfinal spot.

The school shared a jubilant post on X after the pulsating win.

“Toughest team won,” they wrote on social media.

And Mahomes replied, “Toughest team wins.”

The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback began his career by playing for Texas Tech football in college.

They were beaten 84-79 by Florida on Saturday in San Francisco, California.

Walter Clayton Jr scored two late 3-pointers to lead Florida back from nine points down.

“It goes to show how together we all are,” Clayton said.

“Many times could easily just break, start pointing the finger, blaming each other for this and that.

“But we just stayed together through the end and stayed the course. And thankfully we got it done today.”
