Kate, 42, wore a purple dress and purple ribbons, the latter typically used as a symbol of hope for those with cancer.
The tournament marked her second public engagement of the year as she continues her treatment.
Royal aides told Vanity Fair that she plans to “pick up where she left off” with her duties when she is well enough.
“It reflects the fact the family have, since the King’s coronation, the same surname for the first time,” a source told The Times.
This brings to an end a 64-year tradition introduced by Queen Elizabeth, which saw her and Prince Philip’s male line descendants take the name.

Today marks Queen Camilla’s 77th birthday.
The Queen Consort was born Camilla Rosemary Shand at King’s College Hospital in London in 1947.
She grew up between the city and her family home in East Sussex and was described as an avid reader.
This is something that the Queen has proceeded to champion since her coronation in May last year, visiting various primary schools to encourage children to develop their literacy.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle say they’re ‘shaping the future’
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have launched a new updated version of their website this week.
The couple described themselves as “shaping the future through business and philanthropy”.
They said they are achieving this mission through The Archewell Foundation, Archewell Productions and several ventures and patronages they have lent their support to.
This comes after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped down as working royals in 2020, citing a press intrusion and a desire to live a more independent life.
King Charles urges Gareth Southgate to ‘hold head high’
King Charles extended his good wishes to Gareth Southgate after the England team lost against Spain in the Euros final.
The England manager subsequently stepped down from his role on Tuesday (16 July).
The monarch wrote: “Mr. Gareth Southgate O.B.E.
“Although victory may have eluded you this evening, nevertheless my wife and I join all my family in urging you and your support team to hold your heads high.

Prince William’s ‘broken childhood made him tough’
A royal expert has speculated that Prince William has grown into a “tough” man because of the trauma he suffered early in life.
Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond said that the heir to the throne, 42, is particularly resolute and once he makes a decision, he sticks to it.
“William has always been a strong character,” she told OK! magazine. “I think his broken childhood made him tough and resolute.
“He now has the reputation of being stubborn and, once his mind is made up, he sticks to his decision.
“Obviously, as heir to the throne, his word carries a lot of weight in the family and I think it’s true that he has been prepared to take a tough stand on a number of issues, including Andrew and Harry.”
Harry and Meghan snubbed by Prince William’s new celebrity friend
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were reportedly snubbed by Prince William’s newest celebrity friend, American footballer Travis Kelce.
The heir to the throne won over the player at his girlfriend Taylor Swift’s London concert and he proceeded to describe him as “the coolest”.
But despite being invited to the ESPY Awards in Los Angeles, where Prince Harry was honoured for his work with the Invictus Games, Kelce, whose team the Kansas City Chiefs were nominated, did not attend.
An insider subsequently said a meeting between the Sussexes and the player would have been “interesting”.
“Travis is like the most sociable, happy-go-lucky, kind person in any room and is sure to want to say hello to the Prince and interact with the Sussexes,” the source told The Sun.
“That is his style, and honestly he is one of the biggest names in US sport. For Harry, it could be a potentially awkward encounter given that Travis spoke so warmly about and praised William.”
This is why Prince Louis missed Wimbledon and the Euros
Prince Louis was notably absent from Wimbledon and the Euros final this weekend and it turns out that this was likely because of his age.
As reported by People, neither Princess Charlotte nor Prince George were allowed to attend Wimbledon until they were eight years old.
The tournament also has strict rules about excessive noise from spectators and the young prince, who is six, has a reputation for misbehaving at public events.
While Prince George was also able to attend the Euros in Germany with his father, the news outlet noted that George, who turns 11 next week, has only been able to attend football games in recent years too.
Harry and Meghan’s decision to use children’s royal titles branded ‘surprising’
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s decision to use Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet’s royal title on their new website has been described as “surprising”.
The couple stepped down as working royals in 2020, citing press intrusion and a desire to live a more independent life, and subsequently moved to California, where they still live.
But their connections to the British monarchy were apparent in a new updated version of their website, which was launched yesterday (15 July).
Harry’s detailed biography read: “Prince Harry lives in California with his wife Meghan, and their two children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.”
Meghan’s similarly noted: “Meghan lives in California with her husband and their children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.”
The Mirror reports that a royal source described this as a “surprising” decision.
