Suzanne Somers’ Battle with Breast Cancer and Untimely Passing
Actress Suzanne Somers, best known for her role as Chrissy Snow on “Three’s Company,”
sadly passed away on October 15, 2022, at the age of 76 in California.
Her death certificate reveals that she succumbed to breast cancer, which had metastasized to her brain. It is heartbreaking to learn that she fought against this relentless disease for over 23 years before her demise, just one day before her 77th birthday on October 16.
Breast cancer had been a constant battle for Somers, and a biopsy confirmed that it ultimately led to her untimely passing. While no autopsy was performed, her death certificate provided insight into other underlying conditions that contributed to her decline. It revealed that she also suffered from hypertension (high blood pressure) and hydrocephalus.
High blood pressure, a condition that damages arteries over time, can give rise to serious complications such as heart attacks and strokes. Hydrocephalus, on the other hand, refers to the excessive accumulation of cerebral spinal fluid within the brain, leading to harmful pressure on brain tissues.
Notably, Somers fought against hydrocephalus for over a year. In July 2022, she underwent a procedure to alleviate the condition. According to her death certificate, she had an intracerebral ventricular shunt inserted to remove excess fluid from her brain. Despite these efforts, her battle against various health challenges unfortunately concluded with her passing.
Suzanne Somers’ legacy extends beyond her personal health struggles. She will be remembered for her iconic role on “Three’s Company” and the joy she brought to millions of viewers. Her passing, surrounded by loved ones earlier this month, was a deeply emotional moment for her family, friends, and fans.
On October 18, Somers was laid to rest at Desert Memorial Park in Cathedral City, California. Her memory will be cherished, and her contributions to the entertainment industry will continue to inspire audiences for years to come. Suzanne Somers’ tenacity in the face of breast cancer and her remarkable career achievements will forever remain an inspiration to us all.
