NFL star Travis Kelce recently shared his excitement with girlfriend Taylor Swift after becoming the first tight end in Madden NFL history to earn the coveted 99 rating three times on the latest version of the EA Sports game.

The Kansas City Chiefs’ tight end, who was seen enjoying himself at training camp, made the call after Swift wrapped up her “Eras” tour in Warsaw, Poland.

ESPN highlighted this achievement on Twitter, noting that no tight end has ever been a part of the 99 Club as frequently as Kelce.

A source told NatFL that the Chiefs star couldn’t contain his excitement and called Taylor Swift to share his joy. A witness at the scene exclusively reported hearing Kelce say, “Baby, I did it! Baby, please congratulate me on this amazing thing.”

In a recent clip shared on Twitter by Madden NFL 25, Kelce bragged about his latest achievement, saying, “Everybody, 99 again!” The nine-time Pro Bowler added, “I got the Xbox… oh my gosh! Always excited to be part of the 99 Club. Now I have to prove I’m worthy of 99. Proud to be in the Madden Club.”

To commemorate this honor, Kelce received a special Madden 99 gift: a gold microphone, perfect for recording his “New Heights” podcast with his older brother, Jason Kelce. With another Madden 99 rating in hand, Kelce joins his former teammate Tyreek Hill in the exclusive club.

Sports caster and ESPN “Get Up” host Mike Greenberg covered Kelce’s accomplishment on Thursday, impressing fans with his knowledge of Kelce’s superstar girlfriend, Taylor Swift. Greenberg shared that Kelce, 34, received the highest rating among all offensive tight ends in the league. While announcing this big achievement, Greenberg made a subtle reference to Swift’s discography, noting, “It’s the first day of August, so it’s a big day for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce.”

Swifties quickly caught on to Greenberg’s reference to Swift’s song “August,” celebrating the new month and Kelce’s achievement on social media. “I’m surprised they know about ‘August,'” one person wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. Another user added, “August isn’t exactly something that non-Swifties are familiar with. You must love it when the ESPN team can use that reference so seamlessly.”

Swift spent the first day of August performing in Warsaw, Poland, as part of the European leg of her “Eras” tour. She will play two more shows in Warsaw this weekend before heading to Vienna next week.

Eli Manning Congratulates Kelce

NFL legend Eli Manning also extended his congratulations to Kelce in a heartfelt message. “Oh yeah, I know what those gold N9 mean,” Manning said. “Travis, Eli Manning here. I wanted to congratulate you on your third Madden 99 Club. The game has never seen anything like you, Travis. Over the last 10 seasons, you’ve averaged a 96 Madden rating. Kelce responded with excitement, showcasing his golden mic and Xbox controller, and thanking EA Sports. “Always an honor to be a part of the 99 Club. Now I just got to prove that I am 99 worthy,” Kelce said.

Kelce’s Madden Record and Career Outlook

Travis Kelce was named the latest member of the 99 Club for Madden 25 on Thursday, joining teammate Patrick Mahomes, former teammate Tyreek Hill, and San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey among the players to receive the honor. Kelce is a 99 overall at launch for the fifth time, setting the all-time record for a tight end.

The future Hall of Famer recorded 93 receptions for 984 yards and five touchdowns last season, making his ninth Pro Bowl but failing to be named to an All-Pro team for the first time since 2015. Last season was also Kelce’s first since 2015 without 1,000 yards receiving. The 34-year-old admitted he’s starting to feel the wear and tear of his NFL career. “Last year was pretty taxing on my body,” Kelce told reporters. “I’ve had more snaps than a lot of guys, if not everybody in the NFL, over the past five or six years, and I’m very prideful of that, but I know it has taken a toll on my body.”

While it’s clear Kelce wants to keep playing deep into his 30s, this may be the last Madden he’ll enter as a 99 overall. “It’s not like Kelce was suddenly a minus for the Chiefs, but there are a number of emerging tight ends seemingly champing at the bit to take over his perch as the game’s tight end one,” noted one analyst.

For now, though, all remains the same. Madden 25 releases on all consoles on August 16th.
