What could’ve ended up being the signature non-playoff highlight of Travis Kelce’s legendary career was wasted last season after teammate Kadarius Toney lined up in the neutral zone.
Don’t fret too much, though, Kansas City Chiefs fans. Based on how frequently and comfortably he’s throwing them at training camp, it seems only a matter of time until Kelce duplicates his called-back lateral against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Kelce was at it again during Tuesday’s practice, catching a pass from Patrick Mahomes in the middle of the field before quickly underhand-tossing the ball to a sprinting Isiah Pacheco on the sideline.
That same trio connected on a similar play less than 24 hours earlier, with Kelce pitching it back to Pacheco this time like an option quarterback.
Sensing a pattern here? Early in training camp, Kelce hit Pacheco with another lateral after a scrambling Mahomes found his favorite target while rolling left.
Needless to say, don’t be surprised when Mahomes, Kelce and Pacheco produce a similar highlight when it really matters upon kickoff of the 2024 season.
Kansas City’s priority, obviously, is winning an unprecedented third straight Super Bowl. Just don’t be fooled into thinking Kelce won’t be having his typical brand of on-field fun along the way.
