Travis Kelce may or may not join Taylor Swift at the MTV VMAs this evening in Newark, New Jersey, but he let the world know he is rooting for her ahead of the show.
On his podcast New Heights, released this morning, Kelce spoke about how he hopes his girlfriend wins at least “a few” of the 12 categories she’s nominated for tonight.
“Hopefully Taylor can walk away with a few [new VMA awards],” Kelce said.
“She’s nominated for about 10 of those things tonight. Hopefully she can walk away with some moon men. Those are always one of the cooler trophies.”
Swift is nominated for two social categories in addition to the 10 Kelce cited on his show. Swift’s nominations are for Artist of the Year, Song of the Year (“Fortnight”), Best Collaboration (“Fortnight”), Song of the Summer (“Fortnight”), VMAs Most Iconic Performance (“You Belong With Me”), and Best Pop Artist. Her video for “Fortnight” alone got nods in the Best Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best Visual Effects, and Best Art Direction categories.
Most significantly, “Fortnight” is nominated for Video of the Year. Should it win, Swift will make history as the only artist to win that category three years in a row.
Of course, the biggest Taylor Swift news this week already happened, no matter what goes down tonight. Swift made headlines for her endorsement of Kamala Harris in the U.S. presidential election.
