Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is set to compete in the American Century Celebrity Golf Championship Tournament with hopes of improving his golf game.
Speaking on the latest episode of the “New Heights” podcast, which he co-hosts with his brother Jason Kelce, Travis revealed his determination to achieve better scores this year.
Reflecting on his previous performances, Travis admitted, “My previous scores in the last four tournaments have been atrocious.
” However, he remains optimistic, noting that this year is different following his third Super Bowl win and his new relationship with pop superstar Taylor Swift. The Kansas City Chiefs secured back-to-back Super Bowl victories in 2023 and 2024, adding to their 2020 win.
Travis humorously added, “Karma is a guy on a golf course, perhaps.” While Swift, currently on tour in Europe, is not expected to cheer him on from the sidelines, Travis anticipates a boost in support from fans, many of whom are Swift enthusiasts.
“Last Sunday, I typically walk straight from the parking lot to the green, just hoping I get through it without passing out,” Travis admitted on the podcast. He also confessed to losing track of his performance after the first two days of the tournament.
For the first time this year, Jason Kelce, who recently retired after 13 seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles, will join his brother at the celebrity tournament. The event attracts big names from professional sports, Hollywood, and politics to play golf at Edgewood Tahoe in South Lake Tahoe.
The tournament kicks off on Wednesday with practice rounds and continues through Sunday. Offering some brotherly advice, Travis told Jason, “Just don’t feel bad if you hit somebody because they bought the ticket knowing it’s a bunch of amateurs out there trying to play golf.”
The Kelce brothers’ participation adds to the excitement of the tournament, promising not only interesting golf swings but also a chance for fans to see their favorite athletes in a different light.
