Lacrosse star Paul Rabil made his relationship with the 35-year-old British actress official
on Saturday with a series of photos posted to his Instagram.
Rabil, 37, captioned the post, “from the very minute we first met in des moines, around the world and back, life is far better, more purposeful and more beautiful with you ❤️”
In one of his shared photos, The Crown actress can be seen sitting on Rabil’s shoulders, posing for the camera. In another, the couple is smiling arm in arm on a tropical beach.
Another photo — of signs for highway exits toward Des Moines and Kent, Washington — appears to be a reference to the duo’s first time meeting.
This marks the first public acknowledgment of Kirby and Rabil’s relationship, as the couple has otherwise kept their personal lives private. They first sparked dating rumors when spotted holding hands in October 2022, as The Daily Mail reported at the time.
Reps for Kirby and Rabil did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

A co-founder of the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL), Rabil was married to fellow lacrosse player Kelly Berger from 2014 until 2017. His life and athletic career were the subject of the 2022 documentary Fate of a Sport.
“This movie feels like the first time I’ve actually let my guard down,” he wrote on Instagram in June 2022.
At a premiere for the documentary, Rabil told PEOPLE, “It’s not how I remember it, which is also one of the broader lessons in life… I wouldn’t wish a documentary for everyone, especially one that goes public. But I do think it is a really therapeutical exercise, to be able to watch yourself through an objective lens and be able to almost relearn or take into account our biased narratives versus reality.”
Kirby previously dated actor Callum Turner, beginning not long after meeting him while shooting their 2014 film Queen and Country. They ended their relationship in 2020, Metro reported at the time.
The Oscar-nominated Pieces of a Woman actress stars as Josephine, wife of Napoleon Bonaparte, in the newly released Napoleon opposite Joaquin Phoenix. The actors told Empire magazine that they both were determined to “surprise each other” on set with improvised reactions and physical interactions including real slaps to the face.
Also this year, Kirby reprised her role as Alanna Mitsopolis in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One. She’ll next appear in the next installment of that franchise, and in the film adaptation of Anthony Bourdain’s Bone in the Throat.
