The ‘Modern Family’ actress and ‘Bachelor in Paradise’ bartender have been married for one year
Wells Adams is looking back at his relationship with wife Sarah Hyland in honor of her 33rd birthday.
In an Instagram post on Friday, Adams, 39, shared a few throwback selfies of the couple from when they first started dating in 2017. The series of photos show the pair playfully sticking their tongues out in the first shot, followed by Hyland nuzzling her face into her now-husband’s neck in the next two.
“Happy birthday to my beautiful wife,” the Bachelor in Paradise star begins in the caption. “Here are a bunch of selfies from when we first started dating. I don’t know what I did to deserve you, but I’m so thankful that we found each other.”
Ending the tribute on a sweet note, he adds, “You are my best friend, soulmate, and truth[sic] north. I love you more, plus 1 anything you say.”
Moved by her husband’s sentiment, Hyland responded in the comments: “Couldn’t ask for a better birthday gift than having you as a husband 😍”
In August, the pair celebrated their one-year wedding anniversary with posts shared on their respective Instagram accounts. They each included photos from their big day a year earlier in 2022 when they tied the knot at a winery in Santa Ynez, California.
The outdoor ceremony was attended by close family and friends, including the actress’ Modern Family costars Sofia Vergara, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Julie Bowen and Nolan Gould. Ferguson, 47, even officiated the wedding after it was revealed Hyland’s on-screen dad Ty Burrell wasn’t able to attend.
In November 2022, Adams recalled the happy tear-filled day during an exclusive conversation with PEOPLE.
“There’s a picture on my Instagram with me crying and then Jesse Tyler Ferguson was officiating us, and he was crying,” he said. “And my best man who’s my brother was next to me. He was crying, so everyone was crying.”
